PEOPIL, Joint Occupational Health/Workplace Accidents and RTA Conference, Thessaloniki 2023

The conference spanned two days, during which colleagues from Spain, Italy, Greece, the United Kingdom, Poland, the Czech Republic, the Netherlands, Romania, and the USA presented their countries’ legislation and practices.
Highly regarded professors, lawyers, and technical experts, primarily from Europe but also from other parts of the world, formed a strong team of speakers, while all participants were warmly welcomed by representatives of the Athens and Thessaloniki Bar Associations, in line with the well-known Greek hospitality.
The first day of the conference was entirely dedicated to workplace accidents, with each representative presenting the specifics of their country. From the presentations, the importance of attending these conferences emerged once again – for our continuous improvement and networking, exchanging experiences, and assisting in accidents involving foreign elements.
For instance, Natalia Astigarraga, a General Board Member from Spain, presented, alongside national legislation, a successful workplace accident case handled by our firm with her assistance, aimed at obtaining compensation for the family of a Romanian worker who died innocently at a construction site in Spain.
In the same panel, our colleague Loredana Dumbravă, a General Board Member from Romania, presented the situation of workplace accidents in Romania, along with statistics regarding the number of non-EU immigrants working in our country.
She also presented a case managed by our firm in which, after numerous struggles, we succeeded in obtaining compensation for our client following a workplace accident that occurred in January 2017 at the construction site of the Drumul Taberei metro in Bucharest.
