IF YOU HAD TO DESCRIBE YOURSELF AS A LAWYER IN ONE SENTENCE, HOW WOULD IT SOUND?

I am a dedicated, meticulous, persuasive, and ambitious individual.

WHEN DID YOU DECIDE TO BECOME A LAWYER AND WHY?

I decided to become a lawyer during my college years. The desire to study Law was ignited by the legal books from my father’s library, which I tried to decipher when I was young.

WHAT DO YOU LOVE MOST ABOUT YOUR PROFESSION?

What I love most about my profession is the challenge that comes with every case and every court session. In law, no day is the same – each encounter, each court hearing brings different situations that test and push me to surpass my limits, making me a better lawyer.

WHAT DID WINNING YOUR FIRST COURT CASE MEAN TO YOU?

Winning my first court case meant not only confirming my status as a lawyer but more importantly, contributing to someone’s happiness. Besides winning the case, I gained the client’s appreciation, and the advice I received from them still guides me today.

WHAT HAS BEEN YOUR BIGGEST PROFESSIONAL CHALLENGE SO FAR?

My biggest professional challenge was handling my first tax evasion case, where the stakes involved a person’s liberty. Although my client was initially convicted, on appeal, we managed to overturn the lower court’s decision. This case pushed me out of my comfort zone and helped me become a better lawyer.

HOW IMPORTANT IS THE TEAM YOU'RE PART OF, AND HOW VALUABLE IS INDIVIDUAL EXPERIENCE IN THE LEGAL PROFESSION?

The team I work with is incredibly important. Colleagues are the people we spend a significant amount of time with each day, so it’s crucial that we resonate with them. Fortunately, I am part of a team from which I can learn and alongside whom I’ve evolved. Having someone to consult with on legal matters and to debate and analyze issues with is extremely valuable in our profession.

WHAT DO YOU THINK OF THE WORK SCHEDULE AT JGV & ASSOCIATES? WHAT TIME DO YOU START? WHAT TIME DO YOU END?

The work schedule at JGV is one of the reasons I chose to join this team, as it allows for a balance between work and personal life, enabling personal development both socially and professionally. Since I often have court hearings scheduled for mornings, I start around 9 AM, and most days, I finish around 6 PM. Another advantage is that everyone understands when you need to leave earlier to attend to personal matters.

WHAT DOES IT MEAN TO YOU TO BE PART OF A LAW FIRM WITH OVER 40 LAWYERS?

Being part of a team with over 40 lawyers is like being part of a family – with its ups and downs, we form a unified whole that helps us all evolve and become better. We are different people from different areas, but all these differences shape the team and add value.

WHAT DO YOU LIKE TO DO WHEN YOU'RE NOT IN THE OFFICE OR IN COURT?

A few years ago, I would have said I like to read… Unfortunately, I don’t read as much as I would like anymore, but I enjoy going on vacations and, most importantly, spending time with family, friends, and my cat. I love going to good concerts, being in nature, and enjoying all the beauty life has to offer.

WHAT IS THE BEST ADVICE YOU'VE RECEIVED SO FAR IN LIFE, AND FROM WHOM?

I’ve received several pieces of advice over time that I try to follow. One fundamental piece of advice comes from my parents, who always told me to be a good person above all. Another essential advice I received was in my early days of practicing law. My mentor told me that I need to learn to listen – to clients, adversaries, and judges.

HOW IMPORTANT IS INDIVIDUAL WORK VERSUS TEAMWORK IN THIS PROFESSION?

Law requires teamwork. You cannot excel alone. Only with the help of colleagues, with whom you debate and learn, can you achieve excellence. Whether it’s a junior colleague bringing the energy of a new journey or a seasoned colleague, both help us gain more knowledge.
