Interview with Denisa Tărăsescu – “JGV & Associates – A determined, creative, involved team, ready to provide professional support at any time.”

Denisa Tarasescu - avocat accidente rutiere, despagubiri accidente auto

HOW DID YOU BECOME PART OF THIS TEAM?

I chose JGV & Associates because I wanted to make a change in my professional career and work alongside a team willing to provide me with opportunities for personal and professional development.

I had started following job announcements in the legal careers field, and the offer from JGV & Associates caught my attention. They were looking for junior lawyers. After researching the team, the practice area, as well as the main responsibilities and recruitment requirements, I felt it could be the opportunity I had been waiting for.

In my opinion, the solid foundations of lawyering are still built during mentorship, and the desire for professional training at a qualitative level of professional practice was the determining factor in choosing JGV & Associates.

Within a law firm with a 15-year history, practicing law is carried out in an environment governed by general internal rules and procedures. Cases are approached professionally and analyzed together with lawyers specialized in each field, so any junior lawyer, at the beginning of their career, will find it much easier to achieve the desired results.

WHAT WAS THE BIGGEST CHALLENGE DURING THE JOB INTERVIEWS?

I could even mention that before my first interview at JGV & Associates, I had a court case, and the first challenge was to convince the judge to prioritize my case so that I could make it to the meeting with the team I am now part of on time. However, once I arrived and the interview began, I can say that the biggest challenge was to “read” my interviewers, to quickly understand their expectations, to present myself as best as possible, and to convince them that I deserve the position of associate lawyer at JGV & Associates.

HOW DID YOU FIND THE RECRUITMENT REQUIREMENTS? WHAT ABOUT THE INTERVIEW ITSELF?

The recruitment requirements were in line with those for junior lawyers, in the process of training, with an optimal level of experience for suitable integration into the law firm, from all aspects.

From the start, I was surprised to find that among the values sought and appreciated during the interview were motivation, relational skills, professional knowledge, as well as human quality.

Certainly, in the search for these values, complex aspects of a junior lawyer’s personal profile were also analyzed, such as the way of thinking, attention to detail, argumentation skills, but also legal logic.

However, I noticed that particular attention was paid to human quality, the ability to understand the client’s problems beyond faithfully executing a mandate within the law, as well as the balance determined by aspects of private life, which substantially contribute to success in the profession.

HOW DID YOU PERCEIVE THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN THEORY AND PRACTICE?

I believe there is a theoretical basis for every practical situation. However, the boundary between the two notions is often very clearly delineated. In theory, not all circumstances that can arise in practice can be explained, and answers to situations involving atypical complexity are not always found, but there will always be a practical solution to any unregulated procedural aspect.

The transition from theory to practice occurred quite abruptly and represented a series of challenges from the beginning, from drafting court summons and responses to supporting arguments in court and meeting with clients.

I perceived the difference between theory and practice as a challenge to find practical solutions to the problems I encountered, which, generally, were of increased complexity compared to those presented in textbooks and lectures at university. In practice, cases are more complex, clients’ problems are different and have particular aspects, in which case it is necessary to have a solid theoretical basis.

There were moments in practice where I questioned whether the situation I faced had not been encountered in theory, but everything starts from understanding the factual situation and identifying the legal issue.

Thus, having the solid foundations of theory behind me, I managed to figure out where to look to identify the best solution.

HOW WOULD YOU DESCRIBE YOUR DEBUT IN LAW? WHAT ADVICE WOULD YOU GIVE LAW STUDENTS?

I started my career in law with a lot of enthusiasm, courage, and a desire for continuous improvement, within an individual law firm. I was fascinated by the fact that the profession I had chosen brought something interesting every day because of the diversity of cases a lawyer could face.

The debut meant getting familiar with all the administrative aspects of the courts, overcoming the fears of speaking in front of a judge, but also mastering emotions when becoming the confidant of a client’s problems.

Looking back, I am convinced that every experience I had at the beginning of my career contributed to shaping guidelines in the profession I chose.

My advice for law students is to enjoy their time in university as much as possible, to maintain their enthusiasm and thirst for knowledge. Get involved in volunteer activities, participate in mock trials, and in as many internships as possible because all these activities offer significant opportunities for professional and personal development, while also encouraging them to experience university life from different perspectives.

At the end of the four years of study, having an overview of the legal world, it will be much easier to choose the right field from a variety of branches.

Last but not least, fight with all your might for your dreams.

HOW WOULD YOU DESCRIBE YOUR EXPERIENCE SO FAR AT JGV? WHAT DO YOU THINK OF THE TEAM?

A determined, creative, involved team, ready to provide professional support at any moment. I am grateful to be part of a team made up of professionals, where I have the chance to learn from the best. I consider myself in the right place, and the fact that I can have permanent professional support and an example of performance inspires me to strive for excellence in the profession I have chosen, within JGV & Associates.
